Can't get enough

This weather couldn't be any better. The last few days have been incredibly gorgeous, and we have been taking full advantage. We spent one afternoon out back dying easter eggs. Whereas Grace is usually quite chapped upon waking up from a nap, I had a particularly easy time getting her out of bed on this day. She couldn't wait to go outside and get to work on those eggs. Bonnie got to help, too!

This beautiful weather has also allowed Gracie to don her spring wardrobe. She was especially happy to put on her "spin off" dress without a long-sleeved shirt and tights underneath it. Grace, being the most extreme form of a girly-girl, has affectionately given this particular dress its "spin-off" name because it twirls around "just perfectly, Mommy".

The little Easter Bunny loves being able to show off her spring wardrobe, complete with her very own Keds, too!

I have to note how much I love this blog because it allows me to document every little thing my girls say and do that I want to remember. Even the stuff that makes me want to scream. And especially the stuff that makes me smile.

Gracie and Blake sittin' in a tree...

We took advantage of this extraordinarily beautiful weather and had our play group outside today. I'm sure we'll all pay for it tomorrow with sneezing and runny noses, but it will definitely be worth it.

My friend, Ceylese, was brave enough to host today's shindig, and her house is overflowing with fun toys for the kids to play with. Grace had a particularly good time cruising with Blake in his jeep...

until he apparently started driving a little erratically. Just like a "nagging woman" as Corey would say, she kept yelling at him to slow down. I don't know where in the world she learned to yell that!?

"Slow down, Blake!"

Riding off into the sunset

After naps, I really need to go to the grocery store, but it's still so beautiful outside that I think we'll play out back on the swing set instead!

Spring has sprung!

On Sunday, Gracie and her daddy attended Grace's friend Em's 3rd Annual Easter Egg Hunt. Bonnie and I were so sad to have to stay home (due to illness and weather) because this is by far the best Easter egg hunt in the history of all Easter egg hunts.

The event is held each year at Em's grandparent's gorgeous home on Peachtree Battle. The multi-tiered backyard is immaculately landscaped and looks straight out of Alice In Wonderland. I think it's safe to say that this backyard is every little girl's Wonderland. Well, it would have been mine, at least!

This year's party drew about 80 people, and I can only imagine how many plastic eggs Em's grandparents had to buy in order to have enough for everybody. My guess is a lot. Especially since Grace came home with around 30 of them...

Big Girl Bed

We had a play date with Grace's friend, Handley, a couple of weeks ago. Handley has a big girl bed. Grace saw it and immediately wanted one, too. She's been asking every day since then if we can "say goodbye to her crib and get a big girl bed." I've been putting this off for a really long time because I'm not ready to wake up at 2 o'clock in the morning with Grace standing over me and staring until I open my eyes.

Since she is almost 3 years old, however, Corey and I decided that the time has in fact come to say goodbye to the crib. So we did it. And night one was a giant success. Grace went to bed at 9pm (we may have had a little drama putting the bed together) and slept all night until her usual 7:30am wake-up. What a big girl!

Now that the big girl bed is up and running, my next project is to rearrange the furniture and wall decor and get cute bedding. I'm thinking ballerina theme...?

Diagnosis: Croup

I hate coughs. I really do. Any illness below the chin just flat out makes me nervous. So after Bonnie barked like a seal during her morning nap, we headed straight for the pediatrician.

Croup. Again. The good news is that we caught it early, so the doctor sent us home with an oral steroid that Bonnie is supposed to take for the next 3 days to reduce inflammation and help relieve her cough. He also gave us a refill on her inhaler in case she starts to wheeze again.

On a different note, our little pork chop has gained an entire pound since her check-up 11 days ago. One question the doctor asked was if she was eating well. I would say she's eating just fine.

Not again...

They may not look it in these pictures, but both girls have been a little under the weather today. Grace woke up at 4am burning up with fever, and shortly after her morning nap, Bonnie started in with a cough that has been making me a little uncomfortable. Think recent breathing treatment...

Grace has made a drastic improvement since this morning, however, and has also enjoyed every second of being waited on hand and foot by her Mommy and her Mimi.

Hopefully Bonnie's cough is just allergy related...we spent an awful lot of time outside yesterday taking advantage of the beautiful weather while it lasted!
